Artist Bio
Margaret is a multidisciplinary artist based in Rochester, NY, whose work spans painting, photography, poetry, and mixed media, consulting. Through her use of acrylic, watercolor, ink, and charcoal, she transmutes emotions and integrates experiential learning into abstraction. Her art is a meditative process—an alchemical practice of blending emotion, vision, and myth into layered, vibrant works.
Born in 1987, Margaret began making art as a child as a way to process her experiences and emotions, a practice that continued through high school, where she also explored her creative talents as the lead makeup designer for theatrical productions. Her curiosity for the arts led her to Grand Rapids Community College, where she delved into diverse disciplines, including fashion, interiors, oil painting, photography, theatre, and philosophy. These explorations reflect her deep curiosity about people, their stories, and the archetypes that shape human experience.
Margaret’s personal journey informs much of her work. After years of grappling with challenges, including a diagnosis of C-PTSD, her art became a means of processing and healing. In 2017, she organized an art auction benefiting Sarah’s Circle, a longstanding women’s shelter in Chicago. That same year, she took a transformative ten-week artist retreat at La Muse in Labastide-Esparbairenque, France. This retreat deepened her connection to her creative practice, which she describes as a form of meditative therapy and emotional alchemy.
Healing is a central theme in Margaret’s work. She believes that beauty can hold us in aesthetic arrest, provoking moments of stillness and self-reflection. Her hope is that viewers will discover the medicinal qualities in her images and find resonance and healing in their own lives.
Whether she is painting, taking photographs, working with mixed media, or consulting with clients, Margaret’s art invites a conversation between the viewer and the work—a dialogue that bridges emotion, story, and the universal search for meaning. Her work seeks to inspire viewers to reconnect with themselves and explore their inner worlds, turning art into a shared journey of healing and transformation.
